Gopali Ashram Project visit @ 4th April '10

Gopali Ashram is a service project situated 3 kms from IIT Kharagpur. The project consists of Hostel/Orphanage, School, Library, Charitable Dispensary, Goshala (cowshed) and Lord Shiva Temple. Currently there are 29 children in the hostel (most of them are destitute, orphans or tribals).

Gopali Ashram is planning to increase this number to 50 (hostel has the capacity of 100 children). For this, the infrastructure needs to be improved. We should help them in their noble plan so that more needy children can get “Roti, Kapda, Makaan aur Shiksha” (food, clothing, shelter and education).

Interested people can join us on our visit to Gopali Ashram to see the project and meet the children over there.

Time: 05:00pm

Flood Relief

A Flood of Tears

  • Kosi, which is also called as the Curse of Bihar has changed its route again after 200 years. (Pics)
  • More than 10 districts and 41 Lacks people affected.
  • 3 – 15 feet depth of water.
  • Affected people have been living in camps for around 20 days.

How can we help them ...?
  • With Rs.1000 we can provide cooked food for 7 days to one family.
  • On an average if each KGPian donates minimum Rs.50 , in total it amount to Rs.2 lacks (minimum).
  • With Rs.2 lacks we can help about 200 families (and hence on an average 1000 people) to survive for 7 days.

We are trying to help people affected by flood in Bihar by collecting donations for the same. For this purpose we need a few volunteers.
Please, help us in helping them.
